This is some of the terminology that we may be using either in our blogs or our podcasts.
- Apparition: A supernatural manifestation of a person (dead or living), animals or objects. Ghosts are apparitions of dead people.
- Debunk: Expose the falseness or hollowness of (a myth, idea, or belief)
- Esoteric: Understood by or meant for only the select few who have special knowledge or interest
- ESP (Extrasensory Perception): Perception (as in telepathy, clairvoyance, and precognition) that involves awareness of information about events external to the self not gained through the senses and not deducible from previous experience.
- EVP (Electronic Voice Phenomena): Sounds found on electronic recordings that are interpreted as spirit voices that have been either unintentionally recorded or intentionally requested and recorded.
- Ghost: 1. A spirit. 2. A disembodied soul; the soul of a dead person believed to be an inhabitant of the unseen world or to appear to the living in bodily likeness.
- Medium: An individual held to be a channel of communication between the earthly world and the world of spirits.
- Metaphysical: Highly abstract, subtle, or hard to understand
- Orb: A type of anomaly that appears in photographs, especially digital flash photography, in which mysterious objects appear floating in the air.
- Out-of-Body: Relating to or involving a feeling of separation from one's body and of being able to view oneself and others from an external perspective.
- Paranormal: Not scientifically explainable. Supernatural.
- Phenomenon: An observable fact or event.
- Poltergeist: A type of ghost or spirit that is responsible for physical disturbances, such as loud noises and objects being moved or destroyed. They are purportedly capable of pinching, biting, hitting, and tripping people.
- Psychic: 1. Lying outside the sphere of physical science or knowledge; immaterial, moral, or spiritual in origin or force. 2. Sensitive to nonphysical or supernatural forces and influences; marked by extraordinary or mysterious sensitivity, perception, or understanding.
- Shadow Figure: The perception of a patch of shadow as a living, humanoid figure, interpreted as the presence of a spirit or other entity
- Soul: The immaterial essence, animating principle or actuating cause of an individual life; the spiritual principle embodied in human being.s, all rational and spiritual beings, or the universe.
- Spirit: 1. An animating or vital principle held to give life to physical organisms. 2. A supernatural being or essence, as a: Holy Spirit; Soul; an often malevolent being that is bodiless but can become visible; a malevolent being that enters and possesses a human being.
- Supernatural: 1. Of or relating to an order of existence beyond the visible observable universe 2. Departing from what is usual or normal especially so as to appear to transcend the laws of nature; attributed to an invisible agent (as a ghost or spirit)
- White Noise: A combination of all the different frequencies that a human ear can hear.
